Welcome to my web site and thank you for visiting. I am a retired architect, an artist, love the outdoors and traveling so have found that photography is an art form that embraces all my passions. I am constantly looking around my environment for interesting landscapes, people, forms, color or just something that catches my eye. I set up this web site to share my images.
From time to time I will post comments relating to the images I have recently taken or places I have visited relating to the photography on the web site to provide a little more insight as to what i am doing or why I am posting something. Enjoy
In the middle of July this year (2023) we took a 2+ week road trip from Washington down the coast of Oregon, California and returning up through Nevada, California, Oregon and back into Washington. A total of 2,405 miles. It was a fun trip staying in some fun places, exploring wineries, old historic towns, beach towns and even a few Native American casinos. See the opening page of my web site and go to the travel folder.
Below is a map showing the general path and places we stayed. I have a folder containing selected images from the road trip: This is a link if you need that. https://www.ericschaerphotography.com/p818797804
Our last day is today. We head back to Seattle and have an amazing stay to remember.
The camera can only capture a moment in time, but the connections to these images carries with it a story in our minds. Come visit this Island if you have not already. Its a perfect way to disconnect and re-connect at the same time.
Its been a few days of driving downpours, humid and sunny afternoons, diverse landscapes and lots of fun with family. A few sample images below. More to come.
Yesterday, Wednesday June 28, was mostly about relaxing and hanging out at the Royal Kona Resort pool with our Ohana (Family). We picked this resort as we have stayed here a couple times (including just last August of 2022) and loved it. Each family has their own room on the same floor so it allows us all to have our own space but also gather together a lot. Our room is on a southwest corner facing the ocean. Its beautiful and has a huge outdoor lanai (patio). We can even see and watch the resorts Luau from our Lanai.
Everyone had a great time yesterday. We also did a few walks out into the Town of Kailua Kona. Yes a bit of a touristy place but lots to see and its right on the ocean. More on the town later.
First morning looking out over our Lanai.
Looking forward to our fun day. Brought the Lego's of each of our Ohana
