Welcome to my web site and thank you for visiting. I am a retired architect, an artist, love the outdoors and traveling so have found that photography is an art form that embraces all my passions. I am constantly looking around my environment for interesting landscapes, people, forms, color or just something that catches my eye. I set up this web site to share my images. From time to time I will post comments relating to the images I have recently taken or places I have visited relating to the photography on the web site to provide a little more insight as to what i am doing or why I am posting something. Enjoy 2023 Big Island Hawaii TripJune 25, 2023, Starting up my photo blog again with a trip planned to the Big Island of Hawaii. We have been to Hawaii many times (see this link to the folders with images from past trips: https://www.ericschaerphotography.com/f384118789 ) This is a big trip as we are taking our extended family for the first time. There will be 10 of us. I can’t tell you how many times I find I forgot something once I am on location. Not this time. I have it all organized and documented in a spread sheet. Also, Below is an image of the equipment that I will be taking on our trip. I have learned the hard way… its best to be organized. I plan to blog and post images of this trip as it develops. Three of us, including me, will also have drones. We are very aware of the rules to remain safe and are looking forward to some great photography and video opportunities. If we are successful, we plan to put a video to music of our adventure and images. Stay tuned.
Maui Photo TripFor some time we have planned a trip to Maui to see the Humpback whales. Our trip this last January did not disappoint. I have photographed on most of the islands but this is our first trip to see the whales. They were magnificent. I also got up to the top of Halaeakala Volcano for the sunset. OahuMade a quick trip to Oahu (October 2018) for long weekend. Stayed in The Turtle Bay Resort. My wife Shelley and I normally don’t stay in Resorts but decided to try this one out. Was very nice and lots of hiking and photo opportunities. Hoped to catch some of the big surf the area is known for but as I was aware- wrong time of year.

Snoqualmie Pass SnowIn my travels for my job as an Architect, I get to visit some amazing places. Sometimes it just happens that me and my trusty Jeep are in the right place when the light is right and time allows me to stop and take in some Photography.
